A new poll demonstrates some of the political divide across the nation, with many young people mostly keeping friends who align with their political beliefs.

Harvard Institute of Politics survey that polled adults younger than 30 about who their friends are. Some of the poll's findings:

  • 75 percent of Democrats have a close relationship with at least one Hillary Clinton supporter, but only 39 percent said the same about a Donald Trump supporter.
  • 85 percent of Republicans have a close relationship with a Trump supporter, while just 55 percent said the same about a Clinton supporter.
  • 71 percent of whites and just 24 percent of blacks have a close relationship with a Trump supporter.
  • 80 percent of Republicans and 49 percent of Democrats have a close relationship with a gun owner.
  • 28 percent of Republicans have a close relationship with a millionaire, while 22 percent of them have a close relationship with a Muslim.

An Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll last month, meanwhile, found that Republicans and Democrats are even divided on what it means to be an American.
