Poll: Only 38 Percent Favor Obamacare Mandate

Public support continues to dwindle for the healthcare plan passed by the Democrats this year. A new CNN/Opinion Research poll shows that only 38 percent of Americans now favor Obamacare’s stipulation "requiring all Americans who do not have health insurance to get it," The Hill reports.

That’s down from 44 percent in August. Opposition to that provision has risen to 60 percent from 56 in August. Support for the individual mandate hit a high of 49 percent in November.

Support for "preventing insurance companies from dropping coverage for people who become seriously ill" gained to 61 percent from 59 percent in August. And support for "preventing health insurance companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions" increased to 64 percent from 58 percent.
