Damning Portrait of Obama Presented in New Exposé

A damning new 10-part expose of President Barack Obama calls into question much of his past, as well as revealing contradictions about the president’s claims of an impoverished upbringing.

The series, “The Obama You Don’t Know,” claims the commander in chief has covered his tracks throughout his life, producing new narratives as he goes along.

It says that while Obama has painted a picture of growing up poor in Indonesia and Hawaii, in fact in both places his family was relatively well-off. In Indonesia the family lived in the Menteng neighborhood, “then and now the most exclusive neighborhood of Jakarta where bureaucrats, diplomats, and economic elites reside,” the Examiner said in the report that was four months in the making.

Then his mother Ann Dunham sent him back to Hawaii to live with his grandmother, “one of the first female vie presidents of a Honolulu bank.”

“While the Dunhams were not among the wealthiest families on the island, he nevertheless studied and socialized with the children of the social and financial elite,” the Examiner says.

“Tellingly, Obama has never lived in a black neighborhood,” the report says. Even when he got a community organizing job in Chicago he “chose not to live among those he would be organizing. Instead, he commuted 90 minutes each way daily from his apartment in Chicago's famous Hyde Park to the Altgeld Gardens housing project where he worked.”

Other revelations contained in the special report include:

• Despite advocating for the poor, Obama, as a lawyer, represented Chicago slumlord Bishop Arthur Brazier who had failed to provide heat or running water to tenants during harsh winter weather in 1994. Obama got Brazier’s company off with a $50 fine;
• He advocated for new affordable-housing projects on Chicago’s South Side that led to demolition programs in which thousands of low-income blacks were evicted without the chance to live in the new homes;
• As a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, he was described as “a rock star professor with hordes of devoted students.” However in 2003 only one-in-three of his students recommended his courses;
• As a state senator, he refused overtures from a group of reform-minded Republicans known as the “Fab Five,” who were taking on entrenched positions in both parties. He missed votes on several Fab Five proposals, only supporting them on unanimously approved proposals;
• He helped write a state law banning gifts to legislators — but it included 23 exemptions and completely failed to end corruption in Illinois, a state where the two most recent governors have ended in jail;
• As chairman of the state Senate health committee, he colluded with his “mentor” Tony Rezko — a member of what the Examiner calls “The Arab-American network behind Obama” — and former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to stack a state board with political allies who would then award contracts to allies of Rezko and donate to Obama campaigns. Both Rezko and Blagojevich are currently serving jail sentences.

Mark Tapscott, the Examiner’s executive editor, says the portrait of Obama that emerges from the paper’s reporting is one of “a man quite unlike his image, not a visionary reformer but rather a classic Chicago machine pol who thrives on rewarding himself and his friends with the spoils of public office, and who uses his position to punish his enemies.”

Tapscott adds, “To paraphrase Tammany Hall’s George Washington Plunkitt, Obama has seen his opportunities and taken them, over and over.”
