McKee: Obama's Ties to Planned Parenthood Dangerous for Black Women

By    |   Saturday, 27 October 2012 04:21 PM EDT

President Obama cut short his Florida campaign swing because of the deadly shooting in a Colorado movie theater on the morning of July 20.

Across the country in the president's home town of Chicago, at 11:00 a.m., Tonya Reaves, a 24-year-old black woman, 16 weeks pregnant, went to a Chicago Planned Parenthood clinic to get an abortion.

Back in Florida, Obama asked for a moment of silence for the Colorado victims: “.  . . they were loved . . . they had hopes for the future and dreams that were not yet fulfilled . . . ”

Meanwhile, back in Chicago, Tonya wasn’t doing well. After bleeding for five hours — about twice as long as it took Obama to get back to Washington — Planned Parenthood finally sent her to a hospital where doctors performed another abortion procedure at 5:30 p.m.

At 10:12 p.m., Tonya went back into surgery for uncontrollable bleeding. At 11:20 p.m., probably after Obama was in bed, she was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner ruled it an accidental death and her mother has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Planned Parenthood of Illinois and the hospital.

I am sure that the president and his soul mates at Planned Parenthood have not read the gruesome autopsy report nor told young women that this type of abortion — 16 weeks — is nothing short of heinous.

There was no asking for a moment of silence for Tonya. No reference to her being “loved . . . had hopes for the future and dreams that were not yet fulfilled . . . ”

I surmise that Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby would say that Tonya was only exercising “her right to choose” and get “adequate healthcare.”

Four days after Tonya’s death, on July 24 Obama was in Portland, Ore. telling crowds: “Mr. Romney wants to get rid of funding for Planned Parenthood. I think that is a bad idea”

The pro-life community is outraged over Tonya’s death.

Mark Crutcher, President of Life Dynamics has asked the Cook County, Ill. State's Attorney to launch an investigation into Tonya’s death to determine if criminal charges are warranted. If shown to be a homicide, he said “. . . those responsible should be on the evening news wearing handcuffs and leg irons.”

Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union said the case was “. . . another senseless death as a black woman dies at the hand of a Planned Parenthood abortionist” and the National Black Pro-Life Coalition is demanding a criminal investigation.

So what does this have to do with Obama? He and Planned Parenthood are joined at the hip. The organization's president, Cecile Richards, is campaigning for the president, attacking Romney for wanting to end the groups’ funding and for “threatening . . . to take us back . . .  more than 40 years . . . and doing “everything he can to overturn Roe v. Wade.

What has happened to black babies in those 40 years since Roe v. Wade?

Black pro-life groups point out that during that time over 17 million black babies have been killed by abortions and the abortion rate for black women is almost five times that for white women.

Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther, has said that “Every three days, more African-Americans are killed by abortion than have been killed by the Ku Lux Klan in its entire history . . . we need jobs, not abortions.”

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council attributes these racial disparities to Planned Parenthood which he said “has preyed on minorities since its founder advocated negative eugenics . . . ”

How does all of this relate to Tonya?

One month to the day after Tonya’s death, Adam Cassandra writing in The Daily Caller compared Obama ads supporting Planned Parenthood to his ads implying Romney is responsible for a woman’s death after Bain Capital closed her husband’s steel plant.

He asked: “Considering his support for Planned Parenthood, why isn’t Obama being held responsible for the death of Tonya Reaves?”

So what can be done to check the Obama-Planned Parenthood agenda?

Arizona and six other states have prohibited state tax funds from being used for abortions. In Florida, voters have the opportunity to adopt a constitutional amendment — Amendment 6 — to ban state tax funds for abortions, with certain exceptions, and restore parental consent for an abortion for a minor child.

Planned Parenthood and its allies are spending nearly $2 million to defeat it.

Romney’s position on abortion, the efforts of the above seven states and Amendment 6 in Florida will save black babies’ lives so that they can be “loved," have “hopes for the future,” and “dreams that were not yet fulfilled . . . ” — Obama and Planned Parenthoods’ agenda might do just the opposite.
