The restaurant critic for The New York Observer has quit in protest over the newspaper's endorsement of Donald Trump — saying he can no longer stomach "the dark toxicity" of the publication owned by the real-estate tycoon's son-in-law.

"Taking money from and making money for a shill for Trump, Destroyer of Worlds, implicated me …" Joshua David Stein wrote in a column published in London's Guardian.

"His danger lies not just in his policies — which, hitherto, had been rather moderate — but in his demagogic summoning of our worst angels."

Stein said he had been leery of the paper's coverage of Trump because its owner Jared Kushner is married to Trump's daughter Ivanka.

And while Stein said editor Ken Kurson was assuring the publication would remain neutral, it last week endorsed Trump in what he called a "bizarro editorial."

"I tried to convince myself that if I lauded love and light in my writing it could somehow redeem the dark toxicity of the paper's ownership," Stein writes.

"But in the end, there became less and less room to [maneuver] …To stand with Trump is to stand with hate; what I ate, and what I thought about it, is small beer compared with that."
