Three Louisiana churches destroyed in recent arson attacks have received more than $1.3 million in donations following a devastating fire at Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, NBC News reports.

The Louisiana church fires, which occurred between March 26 and April 4, destroyed St. Mary Baptist Church in the community of Port Barre, and Greater Union Baptist Church and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Opelousas, the parish seat. Holden Matthews, a 21-year-old white man, has been charged with arson.

Notre Dame has received $1 billion in donations from companies like Gucci, Chanel, and Apple, as well as an offer of support from the United States.

The fire in Paris spread quickly from the roof near the rear of Notre Dame and, in less than an hour, it engulfed the spire, which later collapsed. Inside the cathedral, where the spire collapsed, the altar was buried in debris.

Firefighters have been assessing the damage, as it still was not safe Wednesday for investigators to get inside the cathedral.

Notre Dame was undergoing major renovations when the fire occurred.

Before Tuesday, the Louisiana churches had received less than $100,000 in donations.
