In a recent interview, musician Neil Young laughed and said "I'm glad I got under her skin," when told that National Rifle Association spokesperson Dana Loesch has tweeted negatively about him over a dozen times.

The Daily Beast notified Young of Loesch's criticism during an interview from which an excerpt was released Thursday. The singer-songwriter was promoting a film directed by his partner, Daryl Hannah, which he wrote several songs for.

"The spokesperson? That woman? She doesn't like me?" he said. "Well, she's one of the gang over there. Although [President Donald] Trump likes my music. He'd come to all my shows."

Trump famously announced his campaign for the White House after riding down an escalator while Young's song "Rockin' in the Free World" played, which the musician later revealed Trump had not gotten permission to use.

He added, "What's her name, huh? Well, I'm glad I got under her skin."

After being read one of Loesch's tweets, Young laughed and said, "Why doesn't she just shoot me? You know, I hate to say that because I have kids and I really don't want anybody to shoot me. I've still got to bring up my kids, so don't take that seriously!"

"That's the way it goes! That's what happens," he added, still laughing. "You're out there in the world and people can say whatever they want. It's freedom. I appreciate that, and I think she should exercise it as much as she can."
