A report that aired on NBC's "Nightly News" Sunday about an Indiana plant closing shop and finalizing its move to Mexico was likely the reason for President Donald Trump calling the company out on Twitter, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Rexnord of Indiana announced last December it would shift some of its operations to Monterrey, Mexico, and cut more than 300 jobs to save $30 million. Trump attacked the company then on Twitter, saying it was "rather viciously firing all of its 300 workers. This is happening all over the country. No more!"
Trump campaigned on a platform of "America First," a notion that the U.S. has been taken advantage of in free-trade agreements and is spending too much to defend allies.
Rexnord finally closed its doors this last week.
