Alan Dershowitz told Fox News' "America’s Newsroom" on Tuesday that federal prosecutors could possibly "squeeze" Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya to get information on the 2016 meeting at Trump Tower.

Veselnitskaya was charged with obstruction of justice in New York federal court Tuesday in relation to a lawsuit involving alleged money laundering and forfeiture related to a tax refund fraud scheme in Russia. She had previously attended the infamous meeting at Trump Tower in 2016, along with Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort.

Dershowitz, a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School, told Fox News that "They [prosecutors] may now have her in a position where they can squeeze her, get her to sing and testify regarding the meeting. That puts the pressure on her."

In 2013, Veselnitskaya represented the real estate holdings company Prevezon Holdings, which is based in Cyprus, in a case brought by the Department of Justice. Federal prosecutors have accused her of submitting to the court an "intentionally misleading declaration in opposition to a government motion" in regards to that case.

These "supposed investigative findings by the Russian government—findings purportedly exonerating Veselnitskaya's clients – under the false pretense that these findings had been independently drafted by the Russian government."

"The evidentiary basis for the case seems strong," Dershowitz continued, "but the question is: is this a case that would have been brought had she not been a Russian who attended the meeting at Trump Tower?"
