MSNBC's "Morning Joe" panel on Tuesday bandied the notion that President Donald Trump was unfit for office, suggesting he was mentally unstable while questioning his memory, Mediaite reported.
Panelist Steve Rattner said watching Trump was "Looney Tunes," leading host Joe Scarborough to say the president was "unbalanced" and claimed he was "not well."
"You actually had yesterday the president of the United States attacking the Justice Department — his Justice Department — for a decision he signed off on. It's almost as if he doesn't remember he signed off on it. It's almost as if he doesn't remember all the things he said about making it a better executive order," Scarborough said.
Then historian and biographer Jon Meacham weighed in and compared Trump to the latter years of former President Richard Nixon's presidency, describing him as a "Shakespearian mad king."
"I don't know about his long-term memory, but I know he has no short-term memory… Whether he remembers that he signed off on this new order or not, he's assuming that the rest of us, or at least a significant number of the rest of us are either too slow or too perverse to remember it as well," Meacham said.
Panelists also described Trump as "anxious," "afraid," and "crazy."
