Utah GOP Sen. Mike Lee argues that members of the current right-leaning majority on the Supreme Court are “not in harmony" with conservative principles of jurisprudence.

In an interview Tuesday on Sinclair Broadcasting’s “America This Week,” Lee — who was once considered on the short list for a nomination to the nation’s high court — slammed Chief Justice John Roberts recent rulings that fell in line with the courts more liberal members.

"Roberts made big mistakes," Lee said.

"This week he created the majority joining with the liberals to bring about a very good day for those who perform abortions and run abortion clinics and a very bad day for women's health and for babies who lose their lives in that process,” he said.

Roberts joined four of the more liberal justices in a 5-4 ruling that struck down a restrictive Louisiana abortion law. He also sided with liberal justices on two other cases: one on job discrimination against LGBTQ workers and the other upholding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival Program.

“We’ve had several conservative justices. In some instances they have made some decisions that are not exactly in harmony with the conservative principals of contextualism and federalism.”
