Michelle Obama-Inspired 'Unsafe' Fitness Stamps May Be Canceled

The U.S. Postal Service reportedly is considering whether to scrap its Michelle Obama-inspired stamp series advocating physical fitness because it shows youngsters doing "unsafe" things.

A U.S. Postal Service spokesman said a decision would be made later this year on the issue, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday.

The "Just Move" collection was aimed at promoting the government's "Let's Move" campaign — which the first lady strongly supports.

But three of the 15 colorful stamps allegedly show behavior the White House finds dangerous: skateboarding without knee pads, doing a "cannonball" into a pool, and performing a handstand without a helmet.

PostalNews.com reported the "unsafe depictions came to light after USPS marketing chief Nagisa Manabe asked Michelle Obama to take part in a first day ceremony for the stamps," the Journal-Constitution reported. PostalNews said the "entire press run" will be destroyed, but The Daily Caller reported the stamps may not even be printed yet.

"The stamps are on hold with the printer and we have not made a decision at this point, right now, with respect to how we are going to move forward," the Postal Service spokesman told The Daily Caller.

Two White House entities — the President's Council on Fitness Sports and Nutrition and the Let's Move campaign — raised concerns about the questionable trio of stamps,
according to a report in the subscription-based Linn's Stamp News, The Daily Caller said.

A Postal Service source told Linn's the Postal Service was confronted with the objections when it sought out Michelle Obama's participation in the rollout ceremony for the series, which was supposed to take place in May.
