Melania Trump is moving to D.C. next week, Politico reports.
The First Lady was staying in New York through the end of son Barron’s school year but is set to move to Washington on June 14, sources told Politico.
Her presence, says a history professor, might lend stability at a rocky time for President Donald Trump.
“The move helps to give the impression that the president is currently in a stable, solid marriage and that his home life is under control,” said Katherine Jellison, who specializes in first lady studies.
Melania Trump’s parents will also likely be seen at the White House more often as they help care for Barron. Victor and Amalij Knavs live in the Trump Tower penthouse currently with Melania and Barron but will visit often, Politico reports.
Melania has made plenty of trips with her husband throughout the first six months of his presidency and is often with him at his West Palm Beach resort, Mar-a-Lago. But she has recently been spending more time in the White House, building out her staff and preparing the residence for the family.
“I’m very happy she’s moving here,” said Sam Nunberg, a former Trump campaign aide. “She’s a strong influence and personality, and I think she comforts him.”
