A Democratic candidate for governor in Maryland made a splash Thursday morning by kissing his husband in a campaign ad.

The ad for Maryland gubernatorial candidate Richard Madaleno debuted on "Fox & Friends" in the Washington, D.C., area, the LGBTQ Victory Fund reported.

"I'm running for governor to deliver progressive results and to stand up to Donald Trump," Madaleno said in the 30-second spot.

Madaleno, a Maryland state senator, then rattled off what he's accomplished during his political career and took some jabs at the president. Near the end of the ad, he delivered a parting shot.

"And what's the No. 1 way I piss off Donald Trump and the Republicans?" said Madaleno, who proceeded to kiss his husband Mark Hodge.

"Take that, Trump," Madaleno said.

Madaleno lives with his husband and their two adopted children.

"We wanted to make sure the president had an opportunity to see this ad, and went with the network he tunes into," Madaleno's campaign manager Keith Presley told The Baltimore Sun.
