Author Spurs Effort to Help Military Moms with New Program

Saturday, 16 May 2015 07:01 PM

Author Marina Slayton, wife of a former U.S. diplomat, is giving military moms the ammunition they need to raise their children with her "Buy One Give One" program.

For every copy of her new book "Be the Best Mom You Can Be: A Practical Guide to Raising Whole Children in a Broken Generation" sold between May 1 and July 31, her foundation will give a free copy to a mom serving in the U.S. military.

Slayton, a mother of four with dual Masters in Education from Columbia University, said her hope is to give military families resources to help them grow and strengthen during or after deployment.

Marina's husband Gregory Winston Slayton is the former U.S. Consul General to Bermuda and author of the 2012 book "Be a Better Day Today: 10 Tools Every Father Needs."

He will also donate a free copy of his book to a military family for each book sold. All profits from both Slayton books will be donated to charities, including many that support military families.

The books, they hope, will be a double blessing: to the readers who buy them and to the military mom and dads who get one for free.
