Senior tax aide Shahira Knight is leaving the White House for a job at the Clearing House Association, a bank lobbying group, The Hill reports.

Knight, the deputy director of Donald Trump's National Economic Council, was at the center of the president's biggest accomplishment to date – the rewrite of the tax code that slashed business rates. Before her role in the White House, Knight was a lobbyist at Fidelity Investments.

Knight is the second top economic policy aide to leave the Trump administration in recent months after Gary Cohn resigned in February over his disagreement with the president's implementation of aluminum and steel tariffs. Cohn was the former head of the National Economic Council.

"While it has been an honor to serve on the White House National Economic Council, I am excited for the opportunity to help launch a new organization that will advance thoughtful policies for an industry so critical to the growth of our economy," she said in a statement.
