The Republican National Committee is predicting low ratings for Sunday's televised Academy Awards show, Variety reported.

In a statement to the industry news outlet, RNC spokesman Steve Guest slammed the Oscars as so political viewers would rather just tune out.

"If last year's dismal ratings didn't make it clear, Americans aren't interested in Hollywood liberals blabbing about politics to a room full of Hollywood liberals," Guest told Variety.

"They're busy taking their 'crumbs' to the bank after Republicans delivered on tax cuts."

ABC's late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who has emerged as one of President Donald Trump’s most vocal critics, is hosting the celebrity-studded event.
