NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The U.S. Navy says it will investigate a series of lewd video clips featuring a top officer on one of its nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
The Virginian-Pilot newspaper reports that Capt. Owen Honors of the Norfolk-based USS Enterprise broadcast to his crew a series of profanity-laced comedy sketches in which he uses gay slurs, mimics masturbation and opens the shower curtain on women pretending to bathe together.
The newspaper says Honors appeared in the videos in 2006 and 2007 while he was the Enterprise's second-ranking officer, and he showed them across the ship on closed-circuit television. He took over as the ship's commander in May.
The navy says the videos are "clearly inappropriate" and it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the production of the videos.
