A Florida city will reopen its beaches and parks today, with limitations.
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry will reopen parks and beaches in Duval County at 5 p.m.
But that doesn’t mean residents can pack the beaches for a day in the sun. The beaches will only be open from 6-11 a.m. and then from 5-8 p.m. Social distancing requirements are still in place and must be followed.
Parks will remain open normal hours from dawn to dusk. Pavilion and picnic areas will remain closed to prevent clusters of people from gathering.
“This can be the beginning of the pathway back to normal life,” Curry said in a press conference announcing the reopenings. “Please respect and follow these limitations. Stay within the guidelines for your safety as well as for the safety of your neighbors.”
The parks and beaches will be open for recreational activities including walking, biking, hiking, fishing, running, swimming, taking care of pets and surfing.
Jacksonville's public golf courses will also reopen with social distancing requirements in place.
