Didn't 'Feel Right:' Isaiah Washington on Leaving Dem Party

(Fox Nation's "Nuff Said")

Actor Isaiah Washington says he left the Democratic Party because something did not "feel right."

Washington announced his choice in April, but explained his decision Thursday during an appearance on Fox Nation's "Nuff Said."

"Walking away . . . is a sacrifice, it's a risk, and there's a penalty for it," he said, adding, "the reason why I've chosen to walk away from the Democratic Party as I know it . . . is that something doesn't feel right."

He added: "I don't know where I'm going, but I know where I come from. And if I look at the political image of the Democratic Party over the last 50 years of my life since I was 5, and very little has changed for my community, then I have some questions — more than questions."

Washington voted for Barack Obama twice, but said not once in eight years was he "given any support regarding Africa or the Black Agenda."

Trump, he said, invited him to the White House to celebrate the First Step Act, a criminal justice reform bill that allows federal prisoners who qualify to shorten their sentences with "good time credits."

Washington supports the #WalkAway movement, a campaign that encourages members of the "divisive" Democratic Party to leave.
