Police have arrested a New York City couple accused of stealing several pints of ice cream from local grocery stores.

The arrests of Mark Hicks, 37, and Ebony Gillian, 34, at a Brooklyn bus stop comes after supermarket magnate and talk radio host John Catsimatidis offered a $5,000 reward last week for their arrest.

A man who told the New York Post he was the couple's roommate took credit for turning them in, though police do not identify informants to the Crime Stoppers program.

Hicks, the roommate said, "loved to brag about" his thefts, showing off a photo of himself taken by an employee of one of the stores he hit.

"I'm famous!'" Hicks would brag, according to the roommate.

"They used an 'I heart NY' bag that fits 50 pints exactly — two rows of five, stacked five high," the man said, adding that Hicks said could make "$150 on that alone."

Some of the ice cream was sold to bodegas in Manhattan and Brooklyn, though the couple ate some of the ice cream themselves, their roommate said.

"They'd eat it on the couch, right out of the container," he said. "They asked me what flavor I liked ... They took orders."

The pair face petit-larceny charges and are being in lieu of $1,000 bail. They had outstanding warrants, according to the Post.

Catsimatidis offered his reward after 49 pints of Häagen-Dazs and 31 pints of Ben & Jerry's were stolen from his store in Chelsea.

"If they were hungry and they stole it because they were hungry ... we're not going to give them a problem," Catsimatidis said at the time. "But if they're professional crooks that steal in order to resell it, then the hell with 'em."
