Hollywood’s liberal elite is getting behind the re-election campaign of California Gov. Jerry Brown.
Among the well-known names contributing to the Democrat's war chest are Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg and his actress-wife Kate Capshaw,
The Los Angeles Times reports.
Also giving are DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg and music and movie mogul David Geffen.
Each contributed the individual maximum of $27,200, the newspaper said.
Brown’s big-bucks supporters also include Wal-Mart and Occidental Petroleum.
The governor has raised more than $31.1 million this year for his re-election campaign fund, which still has more than $10 million in the bank.
State Assemblyman Tim Donnolly, a Republican representing the Hesperia area, plans to run against Brown, according to the Times. But his fundraising figures for the year don't even measure up to a drop in the bucket compared to Brown's.
The Times reported that Donnolly has raised $83,000, but has spent $70,000 of it.
