Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton will be live from New York on Saturday night, according to
The New York Times.
Clinton is scheduled to appear in the "cold open" of "Saturday Night Live" with Kate McKinnon, the cast member who currently portrays her, as the comedy/satire show begins its new season.
The Times quotes sources familiar with Clinton's schedule, but neither NBC nor the Clinton campaign would confirm the appearance.
The very fact the appearance is being reported could end up causing it to be spiked, the Times notes, since producer Lorne Michaels prefers the element of surprise in such instances.
Changes in Clinton's campaign schedule also could end up scuttling the appearance. She reportedly turned down a chance to deliver the keynote address at the Human Rights Campaign, a lesbian and gay rights group, to be on the show.
Clinton has been attempting in recent days to appear more relatable to voters, appearing on NBC's "The Tonight Show" and being interviewed by actress Lena Dunham, creator and star of the HBO series "Girls."
