The family of an 81-year-old North Carolina man named Larry Darrell Upright included in his obituary the request that friends and family "not vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016," Politico reported.

A death notice, published Wednesday in The Concord-Kannapolis Independent Tribune, summarized Upright's career (in building automation), family life and interests (he was a Mason). It further described him as "a loving husband, father, and Grandaddy." In addition to suggestions about charitable contributions instead of flowers, the obituary concluded with: "Also, the family respectfully asks that you do not vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016. R.I.P. Grandaddy."

Within five days of being posted on the website of Whitley's Funeral Home, dozens of people had left comments pledging to honor the family's wish not to vote for the former first lady, senator, secretary of state, and presumptive Democratic presidential candidate.

Pam Lamker wrote: "My deepest sympathies to family and friends of Larry Upright. I don't know any of you nor knew him, but you count on my not voting for H. Clinton. Never! God Bless."

From Sharyn Bass came: "Condolences to the family in their great loss. Your last name says it all, Mr. Upright! I most definitely will not be voting for Hillary Clinton in 2016!"

But an anonymous message expressing condolences concluded with, "I will be thinking of you when I vote with pleasure for Mrs. Clinton in 2016." Another dissent came from Denise Smith, who wrote: "Sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers! I'm voting for Clinton! in 2016!"

Most of the comments, however, appeared to side with the family's anti-Clinton stance.

Rosemary Dougherty wrote: "I am very sorry for your loss. Larry's obituary paints a picture of a wonderful man. I will not be voting for Hillary Clinton ... thanks for the tip, Larry. RIP"
