Gov. Cuomo's Girlfriend Staying in Room Where Gandolfini Suffered Fatal Heart Attack

The girlfriend of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is now staying in the luxury hotel suite in Rome where actor James Gandolfini suffered a fatal heart attack this week, The New York Post reports.

Gandolfini, 51, star of the Emmy-winning series “The Sopranos,” went into cardiac arrest in Room 449 of the Boscolo Exedra Roma on Wednesday shortly before 10 p.m., the New York Post reports.

The attack occurred within two hours after Gandolfini downed eight drinks with a meal of fried prawns and foie gras earlier on Wednesday.

Lee, 46, the Food Network cooking star, checked into the hotel on Friday, the Post reports. She arrived from France with her sister and young nieces, who live in Westchester.

The room, on the fourth floor with high ceilings and an art-deco design, overlooks the Piazza Della Repubblica. It costs about $671 a night, the Post reports.

“Oh, my God. No way,” one of her nieces told the Post. “I can’t believe it.”

Lee and her party have “a couple of rooms” at the hotel, the Post reports. “This is one of them.”

She was “saddened” when she learned that Gandolfini suffered the heart attack in one of the rooms, the Post reports.

Gandolfini’s 13-year-old son, Michael, found his father in the bathroom about 10 p.m. The actor was pronounced dead an hour later at the Policlinico Umberto I Hospital.

An autopsy on Friday confirmed that Gandolfini's death resulted from "natural causes, a heart attack."

Meanwhile, a hotel source told the Post that Gandolfini spent his last night alive dining and drinking heavily.

He had two helpings of fried prawns with sides of chili mayonnaise and a large order of foie gras, the Post reports.

Gandolfini then had two pina coladas — each with a pair of rum sidecars — and then two beers, the source told the Post.

He was carried out of the hotel bare-chested by six men, the Post reports.

Gandolfini’s body will be flown back to the United States by Thursday, and his funeral will be held in New York. He was born in Westwood, N.J.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said on Friday that flags at state buildings would be flown at half-staff on Monday in honor of Gandolfini.

“James Gandolfini was an iconic actor and will be remembered for the timeless impact he left upon television and film in the state of New Jersey and across our nation,” Christie said, according to the Post.
