Instead of a visit to the White House with the president, as is common for sports teams that win major championships, the NBA's Golden State Warriors will make a trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture with area students on Tuesday when the team visits Washington, D.C., one of the players told the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Warriors, winners of the 2017 NBA Championship, were disinvited from visiting the White House by President Donald Trump after team leader Stephen Curry said he didn't want to go because, "we don't stand for basically what our President has — the things that he's said and the things that he hasn't said in the right times, that we won't stand for it."

Klay Thompson on Monday said the Warriors weren't "going to politicize anything, we're just going to hang out with some kids, take them to an African-American museum and hopefully teach them things we learned along the way and life lessons, and we'll still be getting some great memories."

Curry said it won't be odd to not visit the White House.

"It's kind of beating a dead horse at this point," he said. "We're excited about the opportunity we're going to do tomorrow as a team. Other than that, it's a business trip."
