Students Ask Obama to Spy on Fox News

By    |   Tuesday, 18 June 2013 04:57 PM EDT

Students at George Mason University have signed a petition asking President Barack Obama to spy on the private conversations of Fox News employees and their families.

The petition was circulated on the university's campus in Fairfax, Va., by Dan Joseph, a reporter for the Media Research Center, a conservative watchdog group. The petition describes Fox News as "a threat to media integrity and an informed populace," according to the Campus Reform website.

Joseph told students: "We want to be able to legally read their private emails and listen in on phone conversations between Fox News employees and their associates and their families."

Eleven students signed, according to Joseph.

The petition comes after disclosures that the Justice Department monitored Fox News reporter James Rosen's telephone calls and emails while investigating a leak.
