A Florida Democrat has introduced a bill into the state Legislature to keep Daylight Saving Time all year long.

Rep. Kristin Jacobs introduced the "Sunshine Protection Act," HB 893, on Friday, NBC Miami reports.

"As the 'Sunshine State,' Florida should be kept sunny year-round," the bill reads. "[D]aylight saving time shall be the year-round standard time of the entire state and all of its political subdivisions."

The bill is expected to be taken up during the legislature's 2016 session and would take effect July 1 if passed.
