When Facebook and Instagram users check their social media accounts they will now see a reminder to wear a mask, CNBC reports.

The social media company announced Thursday it will start recommending to people that they cover their face when they are out in public.

An alert will pop up on the top of Facebook and Instagram feeds encouraging the use of masks. The notification will direct users to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for additional information.

More states have issued mask mandates as coronavirus cases spike across the country.

Facebook’s decision to promote mask wearing is the latest move in the company’s efforts to help combat the spread of coronavirus.

The social media platform has already been removing misinformation about the virus and warning users if any content they commented on or liked turned out to be false information about the virus.
