It took nearly 15 years for Elizabeth Smart to feel comfortable working on a project about her 2002 kidnapping. ABC News reported Saturday a movie about her experience will debut on Lifetime Nov. 18 titled "I Am Elizabeth Smart."

Now in her late 20s, Smart said she began to see telling her story could make a difference and discussed the project at length with the movie's producers. She narrates the drama in which Alana Boden plays a young Smart and Skeet Ulrich plays her abductor, Brian David Mitchell.

"I will say that it is the best worst movie I've ever seen. I mean, I think it's so well done. I think it was accurate," she said. "I'm very proud of it, but at the same time, part of me thinks I'll be happy if I never have to watch it again."

Smart was 14 when Mitchell kidnapped her in June 2002 at knifepoint from her Salt Lake City, Utah, home. Nine months later she was found alive in Sandy, Utah. Smart said following her release, she wanted to "run away" from the experience.

The Lifetime movie will be preceded by a two-part documentary on Nov. 12 and 13 that will include new information about the case and Smart's life today. Another movie, "The Elizabeth Smart Story" aired in 2003.

Smart married in 2012 and has two children. Mitchell was convicted in 2011 of kidnapping and raping Smart and sentenced to life in prison.
