Lisa Durden, a filmmaker, political commentator and professor at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, claims she's been suspended indefinitely from the school for appearing on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."
Durden went on the Fox News show to discuss the Black Lives Matter Memorial Day event in Brooklyn which was for black people only.
Days later, she arrived to teach her speech class, but was told to cancel it and report to the Human Resources Department.
"They did this to humiliate me,'' Durden told the Newark Star-Ledger. "Essex County College publicly lynched me in front of my students.''
Durden then received a letter signed by the school's vice president for academic affairs Jeffrey Lee saying she was suspended "until further notice."
Host Tucker Carlson accused Black Lives Matter of promoting segregation and asked: "I thought the whole point of Black Lives Matter was to speak out against singling out people based on race?"
The professor mocked him, saying "Boo-hoo, you white people are angry because you couldn't use your 'white privilege' card to get invited to the Black Lives Matter all-black Memorial Day celebration."
Carlson went on to call Durden and the movement "hostile, separatist and crazy," and told Duden "you're sick, and what you're saying is disgusting."
The letter Durden received from the school does not mention her television appearance, but the assistant director of human resources informed Durden that someone had "complained" that she linked herself to the college during her time on air, although she didn't mention her job at the school and she was credited as a political commentator.
A petition to reinstate Durden has reached nearly 900 supporters at this time.
