New Jersey leaders on Monday outlined a host of attractive state and city incentives aimed at attracting Amazon to open its second headquarters in Newark, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Republican Gov. Chris Christie, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Sen. Cory Booker, both Democrats, pitched $5 billion in tax incentives over the next 10 years upon the creation of 50,000 jobs along with a $1 billion city property tax break abatement and a wage tax waiver of $1 billion for employees.

Seattle-based Amazon in September asked for proposals for its second headquarters, and politicians across the U.S. and Canada have expressed interest. The company will invest $5 billion in construction and says the campus will bring 50,000 new jobs.

“Let any state go and try to beat that package along with what we have offered here in Newark,” Christie said.

Booker added: "Amazon would be smart to come here,” and Baraka added, “New Jersey and Newark is the place to be.”

Proposals are due Oct. 19 and Amazon plans to make a decision next year.
