Chris Christie is making the jump to TV, sources told NJ Advance Media on Monday.

The former New Jersey governor has been hired by ABC News and will appear occasionally as a contributor on their shows. The hiring is scheduled to be announced Tuesday on "Good Morning America."

Christie, a Republican who is close to President Donald Trump and served as his transition chief, will appear on ABC News on Tuesday evening after Trump delivers his State of the Union speech. He is the latest Republican analyst to join ABC, following recent hires Alex Castellanos and Meghan McCain.

Christie left office Jan. 16 as the least popular governor in New Jersey.

He is the latest former Trump campaign official to sign a TV deal, with CBS announcing Sunday its hiring of Omarosa Manigault Newman. ABC News is looking to beef up its coverage for the 2018 midterm elections, and Christie is a major grab because of his relationship with Trump.

"It's been a long time he and I've been friends, and talking with each other, through a number of different jobs for me and a number of different situations and iterations for him," Christie told The New York Times.
