The two remaining fugitives who broke out from a Southern California jail last week were arrested early Saturday by San Francisco police, a day after a third escapee surrendered to law enforcement, authorities said.

Hossein Nayeri, 37, and Jonathan Tieu, 20, were arrested in San Francisco's park district on Saturday morning, said San Francisco police spokesman Wilson Ng. He declined to immediately release more details.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department which operates the maximum-security jail in Santa Ana where the three inmates escaped on Jan. 22, confirmed in a message on Twitter that Nayeri and Tieu were taken into custody.

Bac Duong, the 43-year-old third inmate, gave himself up to police in Santa Ana, about 375 miles (604 km) south of San Francisco, on Friday, officials said.

Nayeri, the presumed mastermind of the breakout, was incarcerated on charges stemming from the 2012 mutilation torture of a kidnap victim.

Tieu was facing murder charges and Duong has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, among other crimes.
