A summer sunset boat trip turned out to be no cake walk for reality TV's "Cake Boss." He's thanking New York City police and firefighters for helping out after his boat got surrounded by thick fog.
Buddy Valastro was boating back from a dinner excursion Friday evening when a deep fog set in near Staten Island. He recalled Saturday that it was impossible to see even 5 feet ahead of his 32-foot Boston whaler.
He said with his family and a friend's family aboard, he decided not to take any chances.
The fire department says authorities were called to help people get off the boat around 9:30 p.m.
Valastro stars in TLC's "Cake Boss" and "Next Great Baker." He owns Carlo's Bakery, which has four locations in New Jersey.
