Bristol Palin slammed the mainstream media for blasting Josh Duggar over his sexual molestation revelations while giving "a big fat yawn" to actress Lena Dunham, whose book last year detailed similar activities when she was 7 years old with her year-old sister.
"The double standards make me sick," Palin, 24, the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, said
on her blog. "Liberals in today’s media can do no wrong, while conservatives can do no right."
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar said last month that
Josh Duggar, now 27, fondled four of his sisters and a family baby-sitter when he was a teenager and confessed to them. The actions were done over the girls' clothes and, except in two cases, happened when the girls were asleep, Jim Bob Duggar said.
Two weeks ago, Josh Duggar apologized for unspecified bad behavior when the story came to light and resigned as a lobbyist for the Family Research Council, a conservative Christian group.
Duggar's parents were interviewed Wednesday by Megyn Kelly on Fox News.
Reruns of the family's TLC series, "19 Kids and Counting," were pulled — and network officials have said no decision has been made on whether the program will continue.
Arkansas authorities said last month that they had destroyed a record outlining a nearly decade-old investigation into Josh Duggar. No charges were filed in the abuse, which happened in 2002 and 2003.
Police began investigating the abuse in 2006 when tipped by a family friend but concluded the statute of limitations had lifted.
In her book, "Not That Kind of Girl," Dunham
detailed various instances of sexual behavior with her younger sister.
"Remember the liberal media outrage?" Palin asked in her blog after quoting sections from Dunham's book. "Oh that’s right. It didn’t happen.
"The liberal media darling Dunham was praised for her 'honest and witty' book," Palin said.
