Morning Consult Poll: Most Don't See a 'Border Crisis'

More than four in 10 American voters think there is a crisis at the southern border, according to the results of a new poll.

Key figures in the Politico/Morning Consult poll:

• 42 percent said the U.S. is facing an illegal immigration crisis at the border with Mexico, compared to 12 percent who said there is not a problem or crisis.
• 37 percent called the situation with illegal immigration at the southern border a problem.
• A combined 47 percent somewhat or strongly oppose a border wall.
• 44 percent said the opposite.
• A combined 19 percent said it is either very likely or somewhat likely Congress will allocate money for a border wall.
• 68 percent said it is not too likely or not likely at all to happen.

The partial government shutdown began Dec. 22 after lawmakers could not agree on funding a border wall. Democrats now control the House, which means it is less and less likely they will provide wall money.

Trump was scheduled to address the issue in an Oval Office speech Tuesday night.
