Boehner: Hoover Dam, Golden Gate 'Impossible' Under Obama Regs

Legendary public works accomplishments such as the Hoover Dam and the nation’s highway system could never come to be due to the regulatory policies of President Obama, according to Speaker of the House John Boehner, the Hill reports.

Speaking to the National Association of Manufacturers on Thursday, Boehner, R-Ohio, said the United States must harken back to its glory days as “a nation of builders.”

“America’s greatness has always rested on our ability to build and produce things,” Boehner said.

“Under the Obama administration, however, it’s become harder than ever to build in this country.”

Boehner drove home the point that many in the GOP have been making for quite some time: too much federal regulation is bad for business and the country’s economic recovery.

“Meanwhile, the Hoover Dam, the Golden Gate Bridge, or even our highway system would be almost impossible to build in today’s regulatory environment,” Boehner said.

“This administration would have us believe we can build a great nation on reams of red tape while operating a service economy with things built by earlier generations.”
