Bill Nye: CNN 'Doing a Disservice' by Booking Climate Skeptic

CNN's "New Day"/YouTube

TV's Bill Nye "The Science Guy" has pummeled CNN, criticizing the cable news giant for interviewing a science adviser to President Donald Trump who's dismissive of climate change.

"I will say, much as I love CNN, you're doing a disservice by having one climate change skeptic, and not 97 or 98 scientists or engineers concerned about climate change," Nye said Saturday on CNN's "New Day."

Princeton physics professor William Happer, who appeared with Nye as part of CNN's coverage of the pro-science marches across the country on Earth Day, is skeptical that climate change is harmful.

Nye and Happer also scrapped during their CNN appearance.

"There's this myth that's developed around carbon dioxide that it's a pollutant. But you and I both exhale carbon dioxide with every breath. It's something that plants love. They grow better with more carbon dioxide," Happer said, dismissing climate change supporters as "alarmists."

"That's completely wrong … Sir, with some respect, I encourage you to cut this out so that we can all move forward and make the United States a world leader in technology," Nye retorted.
