Yale University says it has no plans to rescind the honorary degree the Ivy League school presented to comedian Bill Cosby in 2003.

"Yale has never rescinded an honorary degree," University Secretary and Vice President for Student Life Kimberly Goff-Crews Goff-Crews told the Yale Daily News.

"Any change to this longstanding practice would have to be taken up by the board of trustees, which is the body that confers degrees, and it is not under active discussion."

The Yale declaration comes as The University of Pennsylvania last week joined a list of other schools that have revoked honorary doctorates granted to Cosby in the wake of multiple sex assault allegations against him.

The newspaper says students at Yale have been calling on the school to yank Cosby's degree for years.

In December 2015, Cosby was arraigned on charges of felony aggravated indecent assault, but his case ended in a mistrial in June 2017. A retrial is set for April.
