Justin Bieber's Mother Backs Anti-Abortion Film

Justin Bieber's mother — who says she was pressured to have an abortion when she became pregnant at 17 with the now-pop star – is one of the main forces behind a film aiming to raise at least $10 million for the anti-abortion cause.

Pattie Mallette is credited as an executive producer behind the 15-minute film, “Crescendo,” which is expected to be shown nationally at the end of February, and worldwide at about 1,000 venues throughout the year, reports The Guardian.

The movie's backers hope to raise millions for crisis pregnancy centers that can help young women make the decision to have their babies rather than seeking abortions.

Mallette, an outspoken anti-abortion advocate, said she hopes “Crescendo” will help other young women make the same decision she made in the case of her own pregnancy.

"My hope through this involvement is to encourage young women all over the world, just like me, to let them know that there is a place to go, people who will take care of you, and a safe home to live in if you are pregnant and think you have nowhere else to turn," she said.

Bieber hasn't come out in support of the film or his mother's views. However, the website for the production has photos of Mallette and Bieber together. In 2011, Bieber caused an uproar when he said abortion was “like killing a baby,” so he may now be keeping a low profile on the issue.

The film, which is set in the 18th century, tells the story of a single day in the life of a pregnant woman. It stars former Miss USA Ali Landry.

The movie's release comes as pro-life and abortion supporters alike are remembering the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion.
