Joy Behar said on Tuesday that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney wouldn’t appear on her new Current TV show “because he’s afraid of the questions.”
She even added in response to Romney’s comments about the need for fewer police, teachers, and firefighters, "I’d like to see his house burn, one of his millions of houses burning down."
During an interview with the website Mediaite, Behar, Al Gore’s latest addition to his Current TV network, added, “Who's he going to call, the Mormon fire patrol?”
While this was a joke, Behar later added that she would ask the former Massachusetts governor “plenty of questions about: Is he planning to endorse the Ryan budget? And I think that would be a terrible mistake. I don’t want to see people on the streets begging for food, thank you.
“And why does he hate Planned Parenthood?” Behar added. “You know, he didn’t used to hate Planned Parenthood. I want to ask him about all the flip-flopping he’s been doing. That’s why he doesn’t want to come on, because he’s afraid of the questions.”
Behar’s Current TV show, to begin in September, comes only six months after her Time Warner cable channel HLN program was canceled.
The co-host of ABC’s “The View” also anchored a nightly program on HLN from which she exited in December 2011.
