President Donald Trump on Tuesday during a meeting with Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo raised concerns about the state's new law legalizing abortion for the entire 40 weeks of a woman's pregnancy, The Hill reports.

The bill, the Reproductive Health Act, allows abortions after the 24-week mark to protect the mother's health or in cases where the fetus will not survive.

The president "raised his concerns to Governor Cuomo about Democrats' support of late-term abortions," said Deputy press secretary Judd Deere in a statement.

Trump also urged Cuomo to lift the state's ban on large-scale hydraulic fracturing for natural gas.

"The president discussed economic growth opportunities for the State of New York, including helping lower energy prices throughout the entire Northeast by allowing low-cost, American energy to thrive with fracking and pipeline systems," Deere said. "The two also discussed the need to update America's outdated infrastructure system."

Cuomo asked Trump for a revision to the federal tax code, which limits state and local deductions to $10,000 on federal returns.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, shot down Cuomo's plea.

"The Senate Finance Committee won't be revisiting the SALT deduction reforms made in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act . . ." a spokesman for Grassley said.

"It's ironic that the same Democrats who criticized the Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts for supposedly benefiting only the wealthy are now advocating for a change to the law that would primarily benefit the wealthy."
