One airline has found a creative way to lure back customers afraid of getting on crowded planes amid the coronavirus pandemic: It will pay for your funeral if you contract the disease as a result of one of its flights.

Emirates airlines made the announcement just days after offering to pay for passengers medical and hotel expenses if they contract coronavirus in flight, the New York Post reports. All airlines have been hard hit since the pandemic emerged across the world.

"We're keeping you safe on the journey and giving you extra security wherever you are in the world," the Dubai-based airline said, noting it is the first airline to offer such policies.

Emirates is offering burial coverage of $1,765 through NEXtCARE, a subsidiary of travel insurance firm Allianz, the Post reported.

Those who get sick qualify for $176,000 in expenses and $118 a day for quarantine accommodations of up to two weeks. Passengers must pay for their own COVID-19 test, however.

The insurance covers travel up to October 31. It is good for 31 days from "the moment you take your first flight, and it covers you even if you travel onwards to another city," Emirates said.
