As the coronavirus assault on the U.S. appears to be peaking, Democrats are ramping up efforts to blame President Trump for the devastating economic and health consequences of the pandemic.

With the political clock ticking, the president’s opponents are desperately seizing the coronavirus crisis to push forward a false narrative that the president failed to promptly address the emerging pubic health risk.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is leading the attack on the president. On March 29 during an interview on CNN’s "State of the Union," Pelosi told host Jake Tapper that President Trump was slow to recognize the health risk posed by the coronavirus.

She then went for the jugular by accusing his inaction for killing Americans with her sound bite, "As the president fiddles, people are dying."

More recently, as reported by Politico, Pelosi described the president’s response to the coronavirus as “almost sinful,” during a phone call with House Democrats.

Pelosi continued to hammer at the president during CBS's "The Late Late Show with James Corden" where she accused him of not making decisions based on science and evidence.

In all three interviews, Pelosi warned about the president opening the economy prematurely which is a politically loaded statement that sets the stage for future criticism as soon as one fatality or flare up in cases occurs post the president’s easing of social distancing guidelines.

Pelosi’s comments mentioned above were only the opening salvo to her planned full attack on the president.

In a new offensive push, Pelosi wrote a letter to U.S. House Democrats where she blasted President Trump over his management of the coronavirus.

The letter lists a number of examples accusing the president of making serious mistakes including destroying " . . . a strong economy handed to Donald Trump is now a disaster, causing the suffering of countless Americans and endangering lives."Pelosi also claims in the letter the country doesn’t have the " . . . the necessary equipment, which creates unnecessary death and suffering."

The goal of the letter is to use its severely misleading and inaccurate contents to feed the anti-Trump media propaganda machine and give the new House Select Committee areas to investigate.

Recall Pelosi announced the formation of a special House committee to investigate the administration’s handling of the public health crisis on April 2 and she added the committee " . . . would have subpoena power that’s for sure."

The problem for Pelosi’s is her case against the president is undermined by the facts.

President Trump’s campaign posted a detailed timeline of the president’s response to the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Democrat governors are thanking President Trump for his effort to support their states during the public health emergency. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo emphasized the president " . . . has delivered for New York," and California Governor Gavin Newsom refused to criticize the president on CNN and said he was responsive to the state’s needs.

Moreover, Pelosi twists the facts about the emergence of the pandemic saying the president delayed action because he "ignored" information about the coronavirus in January.

While she didn’t cite the source of her claim the president was "warned" she conveniently forgot to mention that coronavirus task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci repeatedly downplayed the risk of the coronavirus including statements on NewsmaxTV in January, on USA Today and on NBC News ("Today") in the middle and end of February, respectively.

Most recently Fauci said the president followed his and Dr. Deborah Birx's recommendation to adopt significant mitigation strategies the "first and only time."

Pelosi also overlooked the fact that on Feb. 24, she was in Chinatown in San Fransisco downplaying the risk of the coronavirus. Pelosi issued a press release about her visit where she expressed "confidence" in Dr. Fauci and told people to visit because now is " . . . a good time to come."

Don’t be fooled by the latest attack by Pelosi and team on President Trump. The truth is Democrats are exploiting a public health crisis in a desperate attempt to damage the president before the November elections.
