The Yankee Candle Company announced a recall on six products in its Luminous Collection fragrance candles Monday after receiving reports of the glass cracking.
A statement on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website said that when the recalled candles are lit, the glass jar with them can crack, posing a laceration hazard.
The items recalled included the Sea Salt & Coral, (Item No. 1535651), Blackberry & Sage (Item No. 1535890), Apple Blossom & Sage (Item No. 1535891), Sugarcane & Honey (Item No. 1535892), Pine & Sandalwood (Item No. 1535893), and Cinnamon & Cedar (Item No. 1535894).
"We have recently received consumer feedback regarding our new Luminous Collection candles which has indicated that when the candle is lit, the glass jar may crack, posing a possible laceration hazard," according to a statement on the Yankee Candle website.
"At Yankee Candle we pride ourselves on having the highest standards of quality. Out of an abundance of caution and a firm commitment to safety, we have decided to request the immediate return of all Luminous Collection candles," the company added.
Yankee Candle has received 16 reports of the square-shape vessel breaking since September 2016, but no injuries resulted in the breakage, People magazine reported. The company is offering full refunds as well as one free candle of the buyer's choice, the magazine said.
