The World Series is tied at three-games each as the Los Angeles Dodgers will host the Houston Astros for the deciding Game 7 Wednesday night.

The Dodgers 3-1, in a series that has been filled with the dramatics, forced the series-clinching game at Dodgers Stadium. Major League Baseball said it's the first time the World Series has gone seven games in three out of four years since the 1980s and the 39th World Serices Game 7 since 1909.

Last year, the Chicago Cubs shattered their 108-year World Series victory drought beating the Cleveland Indians on the road 8-7 in 10 innings during Game 7. In 2014, the San Francisco Giants edged the Kansas City Royals 3-2 in Game 7, sparked by Madison Bumgarner's five innings of shutout baseball in relief, noted MLB.com.

"I think you dream about that as a kid," Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson, whose third homer in four games helped Los Angeles win Game 6, said, according to USA Today. "I think it's going to be big for ... all of us to just remember it's still a baseball game. You've got to slow it down. Still play the same way that we've been playing all year that got us to here."

Game 6 was as disappointing loss for the Astros, which took a 3-2 lead into Dodger Stadium from Houston. Starter Justin Verlander looked almost unhittable, blanking Los Angeles over the first five innings as the Astros clung to a 1-0 lead.

The Dodgers managed two runs in the sixth inning, though, to take the lead for good.

Both teams will be trying to end long droughts. The Dodgers haven't won a World Series in 29 years while the Astros have never won the title in their 56 years, starting in the National League as the Colt 45's, noted USA Today.

"This series has been back and forth," Houston manager A.J. Hinch told the newspaper. "Two incredible teams trying to get to the finish line. And so now, obviously, it's good for our sport. Necessarily bad for us, because we wanted to win (Game 6). ... Both teams will be ready to play with about as much energy as you could possibly imagine in Game 7."

The Houston Astros will send Lance McCullers Jr. to the mound Wednesday while Yu Darvish will start for the Dodgers.
