Special World Series baseballs are hurting pitchers and favoring hitters, claim pitching coached for the the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers, Sports Illustrated reported.

The allegations came after Saturday’s game, which saw Los Angeles post a 6-2 win in Game Four, as coaches and pitchers from both teams complained that the baseballs used in the series were slicker than the ones used in regular season.

“We had a well-pitched game tonight from both sides,” said Astros pitching coach Brent Strom, per Sports Illustrated.

“I’m not taking anything away from the players. I just want to know why? Why in the world would the baseballs in the World Series be different? Because you can see the difference. You can feel it. I don’t understand it at all.”

Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt backed up Strom, saying that Game Three starter Yu Darvish had trouble throwing the slider because of how slick the baseballs were.

Dodgers Game Six starter Rich Hill said he didn’t notice much difference between the baseballs.

"I think they've been extremely consistent in the World Series, and also in the playoff games, as well,” he told CBS News, adding that the slickness of the ball could be due to conditions.

"If it's colder it's going to be slicker. If it's a little bit warmer out or humid, I think you're going to find that you're going to have a little bit more of moisture to the baseballs."

This wouldn’t be the first time athletes have complained about the baseballs of the World Series, Larry Brown Sport said, with the league facing numerous allegations for changing things up to favor hitters.

However, the MLB has consistently denied these claims.

A statement issued to The Washington Post noted that “World Series baseballs are tested at the time of manufacturing and are made from the same materials and to the same specifications as regular season baseballs.”

According to the MLB, the only notable difference to the baseballs is the gold stamping.
