The World Cup's final four has been decided, now Americans can start paying attention as the planet's biggest single-sport sporting event comes to an end in Russia.

On Tuesday, France will take on Belgium in St. Petersburg at 2 p.m., Eastern time, and the event can be viewed on Fox and Telemundo. On Wednesday, Croatia will face England in Moscow, according to CBS Sports.

If ratings are any indication, the public started paying attention during the quarterfinals Saturday, when Croatia's penalty kick victory over World Cup host Russia scored a 5.0/13 in metered market ratings on Fox, the best showing of the 2018 match for Fox so far, according to the website Deadline.com.

The match was also the best any soccer match has done on a U.S. network since the 2014 World Cup finals won by Germany, Deadline.com wrote. The website added that some 6.32 million watched the Croatia/Russia match, making it the most viewed quarterfinal game, in English or Spanish, since 1990.

Deadline.com reported that England's 2-0 quarterfinal win over Sweden on Saturday, was up 28 percent in overnight ratings compared to Costa Rica and Netherlands quarterfinals match of four years ago.

England's match attracted 4.8 million viewers for Fox, the sixth most watched game of the 2018 tournament. It peaked at 6.4 million during the closing minutes of the match at 8:30–8:45 a.m., Pacific time, Deadline.com noted.

The winners of Tuesday and Wednesday matches, regardless of the ratings will meet in the World Cup championship match Sunday in Moscow. ESPN is predicting that Belgium and England will come out winners in semifinal play.

"France have the greater pedigree -- winners in 1998 and finalists in 2006 -- but Belgium (is) the team that seems to have come together at just the right time in Russia," ESPN wrote. "…The past two meetings have ended in big wins -- 4-1 and 5-1 -- for England (over Croatia), so Southgate's men will have no fear on Wednesday, and their extra energy could be decisive."
