A woman jumped from a plane on Monday while it was still in motion at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and is now reportedly undergoing psychological treatment.

The woman was aboard a United Airlines flight from New Orleans to Houston when she opened the emergency door and jumped from the plane into a restricted area, according to witnesses, Fox News reported.

According to Fox 26 Houston, the incident occurred a little after 1 p.m. on Monday.

The FBI was initially called to investigate the incident, but later turned the case over to Houston police after “no federal issue” was found, Fox 26 noted.

The woman is undergoing neuropsychological testing and will be released after it’s concluded, according to KHOU-TV.

One of the passengers, Hampton Friedman, was sitting across the aisle when the incident took place. Friedman posted an image on Twitter and described the incident, saying, "She got up, walked to the exit, opened it, stepped onto the wing, jumped down and ran away."

“I look over and sunlight and I just see a figure essentially step out of it,” said Friedman, per KHOU-TV. “And then I’m like what was that.”

According to another passenger, the woman opened the over-wing exit door before jumping about 15 feet, giving no verbal warning to anyone.

“I’ve flown all over the world and I’ve been on lots of really long flights and I’ve never experienced anything like this,” said Cathy Cole, a passenger on the flight, according to KHOU-TV. “I have no earthly idea why she would want to do that.”

One passenger said he thought the woman might have jumped out of the plane leaving something behind that would harm the other passengers, but FBI agents on the scene said that was not the case.
